Fischer Information Technology, a leading company in the field of technical documentation and content management solutions, has been supporting the "trmd - Technical Editing and Multimedia Documentation" course at THM for many years in order to prepare future technical communicators for the demands of the modern job market. The collaboration focuses on the module "XML-based editing systems" in the second semester of the master’s program, which was specially designed for the course. There they will gain an in-depth insight into our powerful editorial system TIM Enterprise.
The "XML-based editorial systems" module offers students a practice-oriented introduction to the use of XML in technical editing. In close cooperation with experts from Fischer and experienced lecturers from THM, students are taught important concepts, techniques and methods that they need to prepare, efficiently create and manage multimedia technical documentation for specific target groups. However, the work in technical editing is far from over. After all, the information still has to reach the users of the information in such a way that it provides answers to their questions.
Through a combination of lectures, many practical exercises and the final project, students learn how to create, organize and publish structured content. At the end, students have acquired the necessary know-how to be successful in the field.
In addition, the partnership offers students the opportunity to participate in internships and project work where they can apply their learned knowledge in the real world. This practical experience is crucial to ease the transition from studies to the professional world and give students a competitive edge in the job market.
